Hot under the collar: Jewellery Love

Kiki Kang (above) looks beyond amazing in the editorial for Madame Figaro China, no?  I'm loving, no dying over everything in this entire look. Shot by Charlies Guo via here.

Whenever I get those "I don't have anything to wear' moments, I opt for one of my fail safe uniforms of plain t-shirt or sleeveless vest top, jeans (coloured or plain), heels and a serious whopper of a necklace. The bolder the better, I say... better still,  I even layer a few different pieces together for a dramatic look sometimes (especially when I think I'm channelling Miroslava Duma - below).

Need some inspiration, how about these gorgeous pieces to get you hot under the collar? I'm a sucker for Mawi, Dannijo and Lanvin's statement jewellery pieces... Might need to win the lottery to score some of their gorgeous bling though.

 1. Mawi Hexagon foil & hammered Necklace 2. Lanvin Sworovski cord & chain necklace via Net a Porter 3. Nikola Gold Collar necklace via New Look (£15) 4. Brass collar via asos (€24)

3. Oahu beaded necklace by Dannijo 4. Pink beaded necklace £16 via River Island

What are your favourite go-to pieces when wanting to make a statement or simply dressing up an otherwise simple outfit?

My week as Gossip Girl Blair Waldorf, Well kinda

Hello loves, how's your week been? I can honestly say that 2012 is fast becoming one of the most happening years of my life - lots of weddings, babies and friends getting engaged! WOW!
Yup, I'm submerged in event heaven this year and this weekend I'll be off to a Christening and not actually working for once! So here's my life as Blair, in pictures, well... kind of....

I nipped out..., ok, sneaked out to go baby gift shopping and got heavily distracted by Zara, man alive they should bar me from that place! (I didn't come out looking like Blair with all her shopping bags though...) I've seen the gorgeous SS12 lookbook but it's not quite the same as going into a store, something which I haven't done in a while. Seriously I was blown away by the fresh palette for SS, it felt like my heart was having palpitations from having to contain my excitement at all the pretty, pretty things! No joke, I was like a child in a candy store, picking up and trying on everything (half the stuff in-store isn't even on the websites)!!! Crochet shorts, Chanel inspired boucle/ tweed jackets, sexy heels, fringed dip dye dress, dip hem chiffon dress, printed chiffon dress from the TRF range, mint one shoulder dress, cream tulle/broderie anglaise tee's... the list goes on! I was really good though and only made one purchase... Unbelievably right?!

I love this image of Leighton & Blake. I've been so busy lately that I've neglected time with my girls, so I cannot wait to so some coffee & cupcake catch up with my gal pals on the weekend.

The Gossip Girl Gang - it's one of my secret guilty pleasure watching this show!
I could so use some extended time to curl up in bed...but need to figure out what to wear for all these upcoming events! I guess that's the fun part (except for tidying & hanging up all the clothes again)!

Finally, Friday's wouldn't be the same with a little fun poster I found via Pinterest!

Wishing you all a wonderful and sparkly weekend! May it be filled with good times and happiness!

Out of this world awesome: Cosmic & Metallics

Hoorah for Friday! It's been a long week and I am relieved to see a bit of sunshine after our crazy torrential rain and flash flooding on Monday.
My metallica moment is still in overdrive and there are two shoots I absolutely adore, one is  très old school, featuring one of my fave girl crushes, Magdalena Frackowiak shot by Peter Lindbergh. Before you say anything about the last shot..., there's something that may remind you of that infamous shot Lindbergh took of Helena Christensen with the alien for Vogue IT in 1990...

Metallic Moment photoshoot by Peter Lindbergh for Harpers Bazaar US, March 2007 Full shoot via here

This other shoot is more recent and upon first look I thought it was a very bronzed Lara Stone by the fab duo Mert & Marcus, but it wasn't. Scroll down to discover who the model & photographer are for Harpers Bazaar UK (March 2012)

Georgia May Jagger by Alexi Lubomirski for Harpers Bazaar UK, March 2012, full shoot here

Now then folks, I wish I wasn't working the whole Easter weekend, but I so am! Least I'll be with family and friends and yes, there will be a lot of eating involved on Sunday! Greek Feasts are always the best, plus after a week of fasting, i'm ready to tuck into some meat and dairy action!

Have a fantastic weekend lovelies!

Aztec print dress 'Down Lover's Lane' by Aussie label Talulah from their AW12 collection here

Well helloooo there! Hope you guys are all enjoying the weekend, the sun seems to be out on full force over here which is a bonus.
Just the other day I thought my love affair with Aztec had died and gone back to closet heaven, til I came across the image above. How gorgeous is this dress? If you love Missoni chevrons then this is the frock for you!
The thing with tumblr (and it incredibly frustrating), is that some peeps claim the images as their own or rather stating themselves as the original source, so I never got to find out who this mysterious and stylish blogger was til I pinned it! Thanks to my old blogger bud T's eagle fashion eye, she revealed that this Aussie blogger was one half of the fab duo from online store and blog - Thessy Kouzoukas. Be prepared to drool over gorgeous images and hot buys if you're there!
Ok rambling again..., moving on. Just when neon seems to be popping up everywhere, I start seeing Aztec, tribal & abstract prints take centre stage again. In the space of a decade I've seen takes on tribal, Aztec and Navojo prints at least 3/4 times... As for Missoni, she is the original chevron queen and her legendary prints are there to be worn over and over again.

Remember Whitney Port of MTV's 'The City' & The Hills, well this budding designers Fall 11 collection 'Whitney Eve' is all about Aztecs, with a playful approach on secretary style dressing and crop tops! (Oh man, to be young again!) Check out her whole lookbook here.

One of my fave fave designer labels in the world - Sass & Bide! I was really blown away by their 'A Winning Day' Resort 11 collection, so bold, so colourful, so yummy! This is one of the team players & also one of my fave girl crushes - Pip Edwards (Senior Creative), whose style is always on top form. I mean just check out her heels? LOVE!

So what's on the highstreet I hear you say my pretties?

This post wouldn't be a full on Aztec inspired post if I left out Nail Art right? Love this inspo image from Refinery 29 - check out this video on how to do your own nails (or get someone to do this - I'm picturing wonky lines already!) I know, this nail art is just a bit colour & pattern crazy, but sometimes we need a bit of 'good' crazy in our life.

A little bling from my latest Online obsession discovery: Tobi. These guys always for a mini sale on their new arrivals - seriously amazing, no?
I'm loving these Swatch Earrings $15 & Vector bracelet $8 (USD)

Well my sweetie pies, I hope you're all enjoying a lovely long weekend for those of you who have Good Friday and also Monday off! Lucky you! Easter is kicking off for us next weekend! I'm already thinking about my chocolate induced coma... How are you spending your weekend cupcakes?

p.s Miss you guys loads... Thanks for your patience! Have a fab weekend!
