The A-Z of ME! Tell me About Yourself Award

Hello lovelies, How are we on this fine sunny-ish morning? I can't believe we're on Thursday already and my list of things to do just keeps getting longer! Ok, best get on with it.

A huge thank you to Tiffany from Stylish Chatter Boxing blog for the "Tell me about yourself" blog award. Thank you girl, couldn't be more flattered, but WOW, wow wow, you've just given me a massive excuse to non-stop rant about ME. So forgive me if I can't quite shut up now that I'm on a roll!
I thought I'd continue the A-Z of Me post that has been floating around blogosphere recently - refer to the original meister who posted this 1st from my bunch of blogger buds: B of Beautifully Invisible & Tanvi's spin on this post over at The Fabulous Life of the not so rich and famous.

A-Z of me, me, me!

A. Age:
15. No, not really but I sure feel & act like one some of the time. I'm actually older than you all think I am and was born somewhere around the Paleozoic era.
B. Bed size: King, I guess that comes with living with a Greek God.

C. Chore that you hate: Pretty much everything to do with cleaning, but I especially don't like ironing. Couldn't think of anything more tedious. 50's housewife, I am not! The Domestic Goddess in me works best only when fueled by copious amounts of coffee, followed by a bumper pack of Haribo sweets.
D. Dogs: Me wants badly! Have you seen Boo, he's so cute! I'd love a Chow Chow, Pug, or English Bulldog...
E. Essential start to your day: Coffee, hugs from Mr. Perseus & checking e-mails.
F. Favorite color: Hmmm, fuschia & cobalt blue. Depends on my mood.
G. Gold or Silver: Both, I used be more of a silver or white gold kinda gal, but these days I've been leaning towards glittering gold & gilver.
H. Height: Scooping in at 5’6-ish, which is tall for someone in my family.
I. Instruments you play: At school I used to play the violin (hated it), the recorder, treble (ridiculously large version of a recorder) but secretly wished I played the drums for Gun's n' Roses!
J. Job title: Nuclear Physicist by day and Ninja Turtle by night. (Neither of which are real jobs, sadly need brains for the first one and the only black belt I have is the fashionable kind)
K. Kids: Yeah, sometime in the near or distant future, just don't know which one yet. For now, I'm happy playing Fairy Godmother to one gorgeous 20 month old bubba.
L. Live: As long as possible, filled with love, laughter & no regrets I hope.
M. Mother’s name: She has one, since I'm relatively anonymous I won't be sharing online.
N. Nicknames: Too many in real life. My online persona is A Brit Greek as y'know, but sometimes I'm referred to as Miss SOB (no, not Son of a B****) but Miss Salad of Boys which Shopping Diva coined. I once ordered a Salad of boys (the word I was after was cucumber, but pronounced incorrectly can sound a wee bit like boys) during my Lost in Translation phase of only being in Greece for a few months. Oops.
O. Overnight hospital stays: Hmmm, no. I've spent far too much time in the ER due to various sports injuries but I will admit to being super clumsy, which is why I don't strut around in heels in Athens without Mr Perseus by my side, or I'd wipe out on the crazy pavements in 2 secs flat.
P. Pet peeves: People who don't signal when making a turn, peeps who let their children ride on the back of a motorbike without a helmut - that is NUTS! Peeps who are nasty/cruel unintentionally & Peeps who steal! People who don't say please, thank you or excuse me and just shove you out of the way. Ok, this could turn into a mega list me thinks!
Q. Quote from a movie: I'd probably quote something from Pretty Woman/Dirty Dancing or Star Wars... but there are some from The Hangover that make me LOL uncontrollably. Others I heart:

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
- Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Still love: '"We're women, We don't say what we want, but we reserve the right to be pissed off if we don't get it." - Sliding Doors

"Do you know how hard it is to find a decent man in this town? Most of them think monogamy is some kind of wood." - The Mask

“Do you concur?” “Damnit! Why didn’t I concur?!” — Catch Me If You Can

R. Right or left handed: Right.
S. Siblings: One brother.
T: Time you wake up: Early, sometimes far too early, insomnia is a mare!
U. Underwear: Why yes of course! La Perla is kinda nice, don't you think?
V. Vegetable you hate: N/A - clearly I must be a bit weird.
W. What makes you run late: I don't do tardiness.
X. X-Rays you’ve had: A lot. Legs, back, wrists, chest, teeth, you name it, i've had it done. I'm sure it's more than the average person.
Y. Yummy food(s) that you make: Thai Green Curry, Bangers and Mash, White Choc cheesecake, Chocolate molten lava cake, Cakes & Triple Choc brownies cos double ain't enough, y'know.
Z. Zoo animal: Panda's, Zebra's, Otters... they're all so cute! Gotta love 'em all, no?

A big shout out to other bloggers I love on my Google following list and also reading list on the side bar - these guys rock!

When the wind blows, it's time for a change

I've finally said goodbye to summer and a big hello to October's moodier, shorter days. I'm not sure I welcome the chillier mornings but I guess that's a great excuse to cosy up in chunky knits. My desire to layer up & wear something long-sleeved is long overdue!

I also wanted to thank you all; readers, serendipitous visitors, (invisible) followers & commenters alike for your love & supporting my little blog. You guys rock! I'm so sorry I've been 'bad blogger' this week! I will be with you shortly...
Anyhoos, some of you may have noticed a few changes on this blog, that's right, I'm always up for a change and a challenge. I say challenge because my knowledge of html is frighteningly couci-couça, but I'm learning and since editing the template there have been some technical issues, so please do bear with me darlings. I'm not quite finished yet, I think it's going to be a bit of trial & error and perhaps a bit of arduous process and I realise that the horizontal tabs bar is also missing, but I'm on it!

If I'm going to deep with blogging, I might as well say that in essence, I love how our blogs/blogging is like a gateway or even portal into our lives. A sneak peak of who we are, what we love, sharing (ideas, inspiration, dreams, fears, opinions), connecting, learning, life...
I have so many blogs I follow for a slice of something I want to indulge in, posts I've read that have either made me laugh so uncontrollably I want to quote the below image, cry (yes, that has happened once or twice), smile, gumption to declare that procrastination about doing something or other is O-V-E-R, bake like a madman, opened my eyes, taught me something useful and links that have made me stalk pinterest for a good hour or two.
Besides, who knew that reading comments could make one so darn happy?

Most of all, I am stunningly amazed that even during my stop starts in blogging, the connections and blogger buddies I've made have endured and I thank you all for being a part of A Brit Greek.

So lovelies, wishing you all a fantastically fabulous October and sending you all big squeezy hugs and sloppy kisses. Καλό μήνα!

Sunday Musings, 9/11, Awards and Features

How's your weekend going guys? I hope your Sunday has been relaxing and restful. Speaking of restful, I got a lot of shut eye & large intake of Ginseng tea, something that always blasts a bad cold away.

I'm sure that some of you will be remembering the anniversary of 9/11, my thoughts are with you too. There are two really horrific events that certainly shook my outlook on the world and the 9/11 attacks was definitely one of them. I know & remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when the events occured. I also remember a few frantic emails/calls to people I happened to know living there. Horrible stuff.

On a different note, it's been quite a week for me. Lots of super awesome comments, awards, features here and there... Awww, I love you guys, thank you for reading, commenting or even following my little blog! I am well and truly flattered. I will say that if you are following or commenting make sure you leave your link so I can find you too!

I was recently featured on Cameron's beautiful blog, 33 avenue miquelon. Thank you mon cheri for a brilliant post with a beautiful twist on features! It's interesting to see how you're perceived as a semi-anonymous blogger!

Check it out: Le Suivre Vendredi - A Brit Greek

I'm also currently hijacking The Phi Diaries today with my A/W 11 Bag edit & Fashion Week Survival Kit, check it out here style setters! Yeah, I kinda have bag envy at the moment, it happens from time to time.
I hope you'll get the chance to check these out!

Lastly...
A HUGE THANK YOU to the gorgeously sweet Emelia & also the lovely Jess for the One Lovely Blog Award! I kinda want to cheat with my vote, or votes for the lovely blogs out there and since there are so many fabulous reads I wanna share the love and give you all this One Lovely Blog Award too.

The Versatile Blogger Award

Thank you oodles Jemima for the Versatile Blogger Award!!!
I'm truly flattered - some of you know how I have a love & passion for many things!
Ok, so for this award I'm supposed to share 7 things about moi and pass the award to 5 other bloggers of my choosing.

7 things about me:
1. I once ran into Mick Jagger in an ancient temple (Ta Prohm) in Cambodia, that was a surreal & amazing moment.

image via Amy Atlas
2. I have an incredible sweet tooth and can pretty much out eat most people in the dessert/doughnut/chocolate/ice-cream department.

3. I'm an adrenaline junkie, skydiving just rocks, I've jumped 3 times - in Australia & NZ, as well as bungee jumping. Wish there was somewhere to jump here.

images via Amazon.co.uk
4. I'm an 80's geek, love the music era, love the films; bring on The A-Team, The Goonies, The Breakfast Club, Star Wars Trilogy, Indiana Jones, Ferris Bueller's Day off, Dirty Dancing...

5. I am deliriously clumsy. Trip, fall, walk into things, break bones, it could only happen to me.

6. I'm not half bad at bowling, I've striked 5 times in a row before.

7. I wear polish on my toe-nails pretty much all year round.

and now the 5 bloggers whom i think are pretty versatile:

Audrey Allure
Degaine
Alessia of Smells like Fashion
Monique of My Glamourology
Jammer at 10am

Congratulations ladies! Hope you all have a fab week!

A Big Fat thank you!

The much adored and super brilliant recycling Maddie over at Wardrobe Recycle has graciously honoured me with a blog award. Thanks a million girl!

I am flabbergasted, it was a little unexpected to say the least... why? Well, I didn't think many people read what gets emptied out of my pretty, little head sporadically to be honest.

I never intended this blog to be fashion related (-
I'm sure you won't want to see any sucky images of me in outfits, besides there are lots of you lovelies, who are doing a beauty of a job already), hence you will see some randomness and a whole lotta lurve for stuff... I just gotta share it with y'all.

Thank you readers (however frequent or random you may be) for checking out what I digress & ramble on about and your lovely comments, which make me smile. Settling into a new country or any country is hard enough, but one where the lingo is completely different is certainly no easy feat.

I wanted to know everything; where all the cool, unique shops were (i'm sure there are a few secret places I still don't know about yet), fab events, how to get from A to B, where I could go for a run other than the gym (- not on the roads/pavements here - too scary!), great places to visit... Anyhow, I am getting there! I still miss home though but the new life I have here is awesome and is constantly filled with interesting experiences.

I mean, once when I was ordering at a restaurant, I asked for 'A salad of boys', what I really meant was a cucumber salad... yikes! Should have seen the look on my mans face and the waiters! Hilarious, but aghori (boy) & aguri (cucumber) sound pretty similar when said, no?- Ok, Ok, maybe my pronunciation was awful but I had just only moved here!

US VOGUE 05 - Steven Meisel

I'm forever grateful for the Greek fashionista/beauty Bloggers out there who inspire me daily and give me a sense of familiarity with Athens - it's like reading
Time Out & Grazia sometimes but better and more well informed. You are my salvation girls!

I have a lot of fabulous people on my blog roll, which i like to dip into for bites of inspiration, but these luvvies deserve to be mentioned for being just awesome in every way:
