BEAUTIFULLY WRAPPED V.3

What's a holiday season without a bit of give and take? I do love myself some gorgeously wrapped gifts... and I do like to partake in taking time with my crafty box of goodies to get presents wrapped just-so. Unfortunately my box of goodies (ribbons, lace, beads, glue gun etc) is elsewhere so I've had to make do with just the usual wrapping paper & gift bow.

It's no different here on A Brit Greek blog, this December, i've included more inspiration for this years 'Beautifully Wrapped' series. Enjoy!

 Colour coded gift wrap

Something for the Mr & Mrs...

A simple Glitter bow and chevron striped paper. LOVE!

Doillies and brown paper, lovely contrast.
Buttons, baubles, corsages.... whatever you can can your mitts on, use it!
Red and white twine, cannot get enough of this stuff, it's just screams Christmas!

So this is how it's done!!! The bow de-constructed!
A Christmas tree made from presents!

Beautifully Wrapped 2011: It's Good to Give V.2

'Tis the season to be jolly, generous and festive and what better way to feel the festive flavour than giving away beautifully wrapped gifts? I love creative ways to wrap presents, so I thought I'd share with you all if you haven't done your gift wrapping yet! If you need more inspiration check out the first 'Beautifully Wrapped' series here.

Whilst some of us may not be expecting much this Christmas it is good to receive something, even if it is handmade or small but beautifully wrapped and even if you're not feeling the festive mood, it is good to give. I don't know about you guys, but here in Greece, times are pretty hard. I haven't gone crazy on the X-mas shopping front, but I will be personalising and making my own gifts to give to others and doing my bit over this X-mas.

I found out via Glamour UK that you can donate your paypacket - well an hour of your wages each month to any given charity you wish via: whatsonehourworth.co.uk, not sure if there's an equivalent in the US or anywhere else in the world.

As blogger's we post pictures, share and write a lot. Well, you can put that pen & paper to good use for postpals.co.uk which is supported by the BBC Children in Need, the Prince's Trust and Fearne cotton's inspiration. Postpals.co.uk features the profiles of not so very well children (approved by their parents of course). You can help by writing letters, sending emails or even sending a gift to brighten up their day or put a smile on their face. Anyhoos, they're always on the lookout for volunteers and fundraisers! Do your bit and have a heart!

If any of you have any fantastic giving sites, charity links that help support others this Christmas, please drop me an email or leave a comment below, I'll be more than happy to update this post with the relevant links.

Thank you lovelies! You're awesome!

Beautifully wrapped (& a note to readers....) v.1

I love receiving beautifully wrapped gift or gifts that have been wrapped in a super fun creative way. But it also breaks my heart to rip into beautifully wrapped gifts too, so I'm much more careful when getting into a present and where possible, I try to recycle the pretty trimmings.

I also have friends who like to guess what their gifts are by rattling, sniffing (yes, really!) or shaking them, so being creative is key. I'll put jewellery, make up, sweets in Bonne Maman jam jars I've saved and wrap it... or I'll try to provide some element of surprise with different, inventive ways of wrapping gifts. Oh and one more thing I love sparkly & glittery confetti thrown into the wrapping
!With Christmas literally around the corner, you may be wishing that Santa's Elves would secretly sneak into your home and help you with gift wrapping, right?
Anyhow, here are a few gift wrapping ideas to help you on your way if you haven't got it sorted already!

Pom pom gift topper madness over at Creature Comfort's blog - This is a great little discovery, if you love anything papery or general inspiration, then you'll love this blog. The DIY info is here.

Yet another great discovery, Timeless Paper has lots of papery chic inspiration. Gorgeous handmade wintery gift wrapping at it's best. I love the use of twine, mixed textures, buttons and the cool neutral tones here.

Bring on recycling! I love the simple use of newspaper (the Financial Times or Foreign newspapers are great too) teamed with bright coloured ribbon and a hand painted/doodled postcard slipped in to the side.
Empty paint cans (from the DIY store) teamed with a bit of sparkle or a gorgeous bauble will make any gift look awesome. Printed paper = instant coolness!

Don't know about Martha Stewart? Holy banana's this site has more than enough ideas to take you through to next years holiday gift wrapping! I love the use of raw materials and wilderness... photocopied fabric as wrapping paper = genius & fun and also brown paper or maps.
