I love receiving beautifully wrapped gift or gifts that have been wrapped in a super fun creative way. But it also breaks my heart to rip into beautifully wrapped gifts too, so I'm much more careful when getting into a present and where possible, I try to recycle the pretty trimmings.
I also have friends who like to guess what their gifts are by rattling, sniffing (yes, really!) or shaking them, so being creative is key. I'll put jewellery, make up, sweets in Bonne Maman jam jars I've saved and wrap it... or I'll try to provide some element of surprise with different, inventive ways of wrapping gifts. Oh and one more thing I love sparkly & glittery confetti thrown into the wrapping! With Christmas literally around the corner, you may be wishing that Santa's Elves would secretly sneak into your home and help you with gift wrapping, right?
Anyhow, here are a few gift wrapping ideas to help you on your way if you haven't got it sorted already!

Pom pom gift topper madness over at Creature Comfort's blog - This is a great little discovery, if you love anything papery or general inspiration, then you'll love this blog. The DIY info is here.

Yet another great discovery, Timeless Paper has lots of papery chic inspiration. Gorgeous handmade wintery gift wrapping at it's best. I love the use of twine, mixed textures, buttons and the cool neutral tones here.
Bring on recycling! I love the simple use of newspaper (the Financial Times or Foreign newspapers are great too) teamed with bright coloured ribbon and a hand painted/doodled postcard slipped in to the side.
Empty paint cans (from the DIY store) teamed with a bit of sparkle or a gorgeous bauble will make any gift look awesome. Printed paper = instant coolness!via bhg.com
Don't know about Martha Stewart? Holy banana's this site has more than enough ideas to take you through to next years holiday gift wrapping! I love the use of raw materials and wilderness... photocopied fabric as wrapping paper = genius & fun and also brown paper or maps.

ah! perfectly matced to the day post!
you are so sweet!
God, I'd be satisfied just to be given a box that looked like anyone of those as a gift. They wouldn't even need to put anything in it. I'd just keep it on my bedside table as decoration. And I love the idea of using an empty paint can as a gift box. Clever!
I hear you on the busy December front--I haven't read or commented (or posted myself!) in a few days. December flies! Have a good weekend!
Those trimmings are so pretty, it is almost too cruel to just rip the gift up, thanks dear for sharing!!!
XOXO

I too love a beautifully wrapped present. In fact, I prefer picking out wrapping paper and trimmings to picking out the actual gift. I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't even begun my holiday shopping, so I'm hoping looking at all these beautiful gifts will be the kick in the ass that I need. Also, I just have to gush about the gift wrapped in a map! I love, love, love that one!
So many amazing ideas!
Ooh these gifts are so beautifully wrapped! *big hug* back to you :)

These look amazing! A well wrapped gift is as good as its contents [mostly ;)] ... And it has been great knowing you too!!! Have a good weekend. Hugz!
Oh, how cute are these gift wrappings. I love gifting things I made myself and wrapping them. I also used to make xmas cards for my loved ones. I hope you get lots of lovely presents this xmas! :))

I'm totally wrapping my presents in the newspapers from around here for people at home - I'm quite excited about it! And the bows idea with that is great :)
They're gorgeous! And I'm right there with u. It's such a shame to open up such prettiness, isn't it?
And totally understand about taking on too much this time of year. I've done the same I'm afraid. Good luck getting everything accomplished! xoxo
I'm going to need to check out that bow from a bag DIY! That's such a cool trick. I love wrapping presents but I'm loathe to spend a lot of money on bows and the like that will be almost immediately discarded, so that's a perfect solution!! And such a sweet note - reading your blog is a pleasure!
xoxo, Ashley
So much inspiration! Great post! Thanks!

Wrapping presents is my least favorite thing to do - I feel like I am completely horrible at it and have no creative bone in my boy where this is concerned. THANK YOU for these great links, especially the Timeless Paper and grocery bad DIYs. I might actually start enjoying it if I can do something like that!
Sorry I have been MIA in my commenting lately - love you, doll!
What gorgeous and inspirational present wrappings!! Sometimes I fall in love with the wrapping more than the presents. Lovely post and your blog is simply wonderful :)

I LOVE the "4 U" wrapping idea! I always use kraft paper, creative ribbons and twin, and a tag stamp. So fun!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's been crazy and very very behind on responding to comments. It's been nuts. I've carved out a bit of time today, but I won't be really back for a week or two.
As for present wrapping, this year I asked my kids to do it for me (Not for their gifts of course!). The results are hilarious, in a really cute way, but not in a Martha way at all.
Anyway merry Christmas my dear! And if I'm not around for a week or two, happy new year too.
Love,
Heather
