Up, Up and Away: Pan Am the next Mad Men hit?

I've been hearing about the new 60's period show Pan Am for quite some time now and wish it would screen in over here some time soon since it's Pilot launch a few days ago. Did anyone watch it and was it any good? I know it's coming out in the UK on BBC2 soonish...

I'm excited for Christina Ricci who kinda disappeared for a bit after 2008 and sure hope she comes back with a bang on this show. Here's the full scoop on what she had to say about her role in Pan Am for Huffington Post.

There's something about a flight attendants uniform that just rocks. Do you remember the scene where Leonardo DiCaprio was at the airport with six Pan Am Flight Attendants in tow? That film offered such a glamourous take in airline travel amongst other things. But seriously, can you imagine the shenanigans that go on at an altitude of thirty something thousand feet?

If you live around West Hollywood, you may have spotted these bus shelter installments, via here for the full snaps! What a brilliant marketing idea!

When Pan Am ruled the skies back in the 60's until it ceased operations in 1991, the stewardess outfit represented the ultimate peak of chic, the uniform was pretty iconic as was the cool retro bag.
When I Googled 'Pan Am Outfits' I did giggle at the fact that the net was in abundance of Pan Am uniforms for Halloween. If you really must don a modernized version, how about Britney's take on the uniform from 'Toxic'? LOL!

Christina Ricci plays Maggie, a rebellious character. Kinda loving the outfit on the left!

Welcome back!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Pan Am if you watched it!

Nuts for these nails!

Luscious ladies, you'll have to excuse me, I'm on a bit of nail stalking roll right now and totally feeling these gorgeous nail designs. I'm also dying to try out LCN's magnetic nail polish too via their online store!

These ultra fabulous hieroglyphic nail art at The Topshop Unique's SS12 instantly grabbed my attention. The designs are courtesy of celeb manicurist Andrea Fulerton from her Nail Boutique Stripe and Sparkle range. She has a handy tip for those of you wanting to try this design.

"My tip for doing your less dominant hand is to balance your hands on a flat surface to gain control, dont over load your brush with paint and work slowly."

Grazia Magazine recreated this look here (includes how-to). I also found this super cool video how-to on youtube too.
Luuurve Joanna Goddards Cosmic nails... check out her post on how to create this look here

I think I've become these talented sisters biggest fans! Love this bold and colourful nail design, a surefire way to bring summer back from Hey Nice Nails! - Yes, this was a site I 'StumbledUpon'! Fab discovery!

Moon manicures, this is such a easy design to replicate using different colours. Love the nude/black combo, which is what I'll be rocking tomorrow.
Red reverse mani that looks like a grown out mani, love the pale/naural base with hot red!
The reverse French chevron manicure - love this! So simple yet dead chic & effective.

What will you lovelies be tempted to try out? Any new nail trends I ought to know about?

Wishing you all a spectacular week!

Cuteness Overload: Boo

Just when you thought I couldn't get more random... well sometimes there's just a need for moments of serious cuteness, this is one of them. My BFF mailed over the cutest pic of this Pomeranian, known as Boo with haircut gone bad a while back, but I had no idea he was a bit of an internet sensation. Don't you just want to cuddle this fella? I think the hair cut kinda works on Boo!

This one made me laugh!

Fabulous Thursdays: Fashion, Favicon & Frocks

Fashion Week has a rather unhealthy habit of making me gasp, sigh and dream about lustworthy pieces I'd like to add to my wardrobe, well that and hit the shops in a big way (but thank God for self control & not have the urge to be so frivolous).
I don't usually post Fashion Week snaps, but this Gucci dress got my attention, me wants it so very badly! Hello fringing, hello sparkles! The entire collection was filled with beautiful pieces that made me love Frida Giannini even more.

Natasha Poly rocking the dress I can see myself bopping away on the dance floor, martini in hand of course!
Spotted these pebble heeled beauties via StreetPeeper

This is me, in another life, biker style jacket, check, flowing printed maxi skirt, check & plain white T, check. Such a gorgeous shot, no?

I love this metallic shirt! Ok, it's a little bit too coppery for my liking but still it's freakin' awesome, plus I would never get bored of styling this number.

So how's your week going lovelies? Beside me having a constant battle with Firefox crashing and losing half my work every 10-15 minutes (why, oh why?), it's been good this side of town. Athens is currently experiencing an early Autumnal vibe, we had rain the other day and it's a little cool today. Come back sun!

Some of you may have also noticed the little StumbleUpon icon at the end of each post, this is something I picked up from the IFB conference, since i'm not on Facebook/Twitter, this is a great way of sharing posts/blogs/photos etc you like, so sign up peeps. I'm still learning the joys of stumbling, and have discovered so many cool new blogs.

Something else I've managed to do as start to a blog overhaul, (if Firefox will allow it, but I think it's gonna take some time) is add a favicon icon - some of you already have it and some of you are probably wondering what heck this is. Well it's my website/blog icon in the address bar. I had no idea what this icon was called or how to do it at first, I just knew it looked good on everyone elses blog/site plus I wanted to personalise my blog a little more. If you want to know how to get one/create one i'll do a post on it next time. Let me know!

Ciao for now kittens!

Because It's Monday: Some Life Truths

Well Happy Monday kittens! How was your weekend?
I don't know about anyone else, but is it normal to feel completely exhausted already? It's only Monday! I'm fresh outta words today, but here are some Life's Truths for Mature Adults that had me amused for a little while. Care to share if you nodded your head to any of these?

Life's Truths for Mature Adults shamelessly taken via here

1. I think part of a best friend’s job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I’m pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren’t going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don’t want to have to restart my collection…again.

13. I’m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to. This has happened so many times to me i've lost count, of course my natural reaction was sheer panic too.

14. “Do not machine wash or tumble dry” means I will never wash this – ever.

15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? **** it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn’t answer? Drop the phone and run away?

16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

17. I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

18. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

19. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

20. I wish Google Maps had an “Avoid Ghetto” routing option.

21. Sometimes, I’ll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it.

22. I would rather try to carry 10 over-loaded plastic bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

23. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text.

24. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

25. How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear or understand a word they said?

26. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

28. Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber & dumber every year?

29. There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far. This reminds me of being at school, I ended up smacking my head on the table behind me once, doh! I guess I enjoyed that feeling so much I just remembered that I sat strapped to a chair and fell backards off a bridge in New Zealand once.

30. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate bicyclists.

31. Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

32. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey – but I’d bet my *** everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time! Yup, so true!

Fashion's Night Out: Athens Star Gazing

Well good evening folks, I hope your week of work is edging closer to the weekend! You'll have to excuse my absence this week, it's been a bit ker-a-zee! I can't wait to catch up with my favourite reads over the weekend and check out new blogs too!

Yesterday evening Athens celebrated Vogue's Fashions Night Out in the super chic Kolonaki area. This is my 2nd ever FNO and I had the BEST time ever! Despite the sweltering humidity and insane heat (why did I wear jeans?!), I had a great time hanging out with Alexandra Katsaiti, Stylist to the Stars at the Massimo Dutti store where she was lending her style prowess to shoppers.

This lady's work is on another level, Alex K, is a bit of a somebody in Greece and is renown for constantly evolving & creating one of my fave Greek entertainers/singer, Tamta looks. (More on this gorgeous lady another time!)
As I write this, Tamta is about to unveil a completely new look tonight at the Amita Motion Concert at the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens. How exciting?!

Anyhoos, I'm totally loving Alex K's kooky cool style, check out her cute polka Mary Janes!

The Massimo Dutti staff were also busting out remarkable style as were Alex K's friends!

From Left: Konstantinos Stergiou (Visual Merchandiser for Massimo Dutti), Christina Eftasthiou (don't you just love how banana's her hair is -wish I'd taken a side profile shot!) & Alex K
Stumbling upon a super Hot & stylish Couple (above)

My next port of call was Gucci, where I ran into the stunning Model & TV presenter Marietta Chrousala (far left) and gorgeous friends. There were so many amazing events happening everywhere in Kolonaki, mouth-watering cocktails galore and such an impressive turn out! I had so much fun! Now I need a little time to rest (my head) and indulge in my weekend...

What are you all doing this weekend? Have fun whatever your plans!

Full Moon Beauty feat. Fei Fei Sun

Today my family are celebrating the Mid-autumn Festival, which takes place on the 15th day of the 8th Chinese Lunar month. I love this time of the year, as it reminds me of the changing of the seasons. However, one one of my favourite past-times is eating mooncakes, a pastry filled with either sweet lotus seed paste/red bean paste and a salted egg yolk to symbolize the full moon. These delicacies are always offered to friends and family and are a symbol of reunion. Have any of you ever tried one?

Right, I'm going to leave you with my girl crush of the moment, Fei Fei Wan who looks stunning in various editorials and previously featured here. Enjoy!

Sunday Musings, 9/11, Awards and Features

How's your weekend going guys? I hope your Sunday has been relaxing and restful. Speaking of restful, I got a lot of shut eye & large intake of Ginseng tea, something that always blasts a bad cold away.
via here

I'm sure that some of you will be remembering the anniversary of 9/11, my thoughts are with you too. There are two really horrific events that certainly shook my outlook on the world and the 9/11 attacks was definitely one of them. I know & remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when the events occured. I also remember a few frantic emails/calls to people I happened to know living there. Horrible stuff.

On a different note, it's been quite a week for me. Lots of super awesome comments, awards, features here and there... Awww, I love you guys, thank you for reading, commenting or even following my little blog! I am well and truly flattered. I will say that if you are following or commenting make sure you leave your link so I can find you too!

I was recently featured on Cameron's beautiful blog, 33 avenue miquelon. Thank you mon cheri for a brilliant post with a beautiful twist on features! It's interesting to see how you're perceived as a semi-anonymous blogger!

Check it out: Le Suivre Vendredi - A Brit Greek

I'm also currently hijacking The Phi Diaries today with my A/W 11 Bag edit & Fashion Week Survival Kit, check it out here style setters! Yeah, I kinda have bag envy at the moment, it happens from time to time.
I hope you'll get the chance to check these out!

Lastly...
A HUGE THANK YOU to the gorgeously sweet Emelia & also the lovely Jess for the One Lovely Blog Award! I kinda want to cheat with my vote, or votes for the lovely blogs out there and since there are so many fabulous reads I wanna share the love and give you all this One Lovely Blog Award too.

Positively Palazzo-fied & Some IFB tips about Blogging

Hey guys, how's your week going?
My glands have gone Ka-Poww over night and the only thing that's making me feel just a little bit better is ice-cream, for breakfast, lunch and I'm contemplating dinner. I realise that I'm posting this way after supper time, but I so needed a mini snooze and a spoonful of Night Nurse.
Moving on...
Earlier this year there was a bit of a craze for Palazzo style trousers and you know what, this super cool 70's style is still huge!
Charlize Theron at the GQ Awards, Tess Daly & Anna-Lynne Mccord perfecting the Palazzo pants look
via here & here

If you're fed up of skinnies, maybe this trend for billowy wide leg trousers is for you. I have my eye on these fun metallic jacquard pair from asos.com (page 82 of the magazine) and there are plenty of high-street names doing the 70's trend proud.

Boohoo.com has an amazing selection of Palazzo style trousers at bank manager friendly prices
From left: Cora pleated Palazzo trouser -£25
Ash Button trim Wide leg chiffon trouser - £18
Poppy Crinkled Georgette Swirl print trouser - £15

The golden rule when wearing these pants is tuck the top in or belt up. Highlighting your waist is the way to go. Wear with a plain top if wearing printed palazzo's, or a simple tank (in a solid colour). For a more sophisticated look, wear with pussy-bow blouses, sharp white shirts (tucked in) or pretty camisoles.

I'm in love with the asos wide leg ruffle jumpsuit below, in both colours!

Wear with a plain top if wearing printed palazzo's, or a simple tank (in a solid colour). For a more sophisticated look, wear with pussy-bow blouses, crisp white shirts (tucked in), feminine camisoles.

I did laugh when I read this How-to from the Daily Mail:
" If you are under 5ft 7in, you will merely resemble a giant moving square. Or a flag. Or an enormous pair of curtains."
Hmmm, I beg to differ, my mum managed to rock a cool printed pair decades ago and she's only 5ft 1in, but she's very petite.

By the way did anyone watch/go to the IFB conference?
I managed to catch some of it and learnt a thing or two about Blogging, particularly if you want to take your blog to another level. One of the panelists that stood out for me and was obviously a crowd pleaser was the media savvy Ari Goldberg, founding partner & CEO of StyleCaster Media Group. He totally rocked the panel and shared some useful info if you're looking to turn your blog into a business or rather a full-time career, here's what he had to say:
  • We are all our own brand. Understand who you are as a brand. What is your mission statement? What do you stand for? Who do you want it to reach? He also Tweeted a fave brand building book of his- Zag: The number One strategy of High-Performance Brands by Marty Neumeier.
  • "Find a brand that you love, study the brand, understand how it works. Nike is a brand for athletes by athletes (as is Under Armour) and will reign". I loved when he talked about Nike, this man really know his stuff!
  • "Use your blog as your resume. Why don't people do this? All resumes look the same, make yours stand out."
  • On working with brands which you may not necessarily want to review or work with: “Don’t sell out, when you sell out you lose your readers.”
  • "Understand the economics and business behind having a blog".
  • Have a media kit ready for peeps who are interesting in partnering up with you/your blog, he shared the Style Caster Media Kit for you to use as a guideline. Love that he said "everything in this industry should be high gloss & pretty (including your medi kit)"!
Last of all, I was totally distracted by the Live Stream chat of female fans wanting to marry Ari Goldberg, totally LOL!

Right lovelies, I'm sorry if I haven't swung by your blogs yet, but i'll see you on the weekend for some blissful, inspiring reads! Now, I need to have another hit of Night Nurse and get some shut eye, if that's at all possible.

Closet Confidential: Stylish Wardrobe Inspiration Part 2

Honestly, I never tire of gawping and swooning over images of other people wardrobes and if I could customize & convert an entire spare room into a walk-in fantasy dress up room to store jewellery, have bags & shoes on display, I would! It would be AMAZERS, know what I mean?!

For now, I'm lucky enough to have space to store most of my stylish junk and my mans wardrobe, so no arguments as to how we share our space, phew-wee!

Whilst some guys would love a walk-in refridgerator stocked full of beer, à la The Heineken TV commercial (- absolutely hilarious if you haven't seen it before), I did find this super luxe, dramatic masculine wardrobe inspiration above!

Now then, onto some serious wardrobe envy! Although I don't really follow the Kardashians and I have absolutely no idea why they're famous other than having a reality TV show, they do seem to have it all, including a super flash walk-in wardrobe. Check it out!

Inside Kourtney's wardrobe

Inside Kim Kardashian's closet

Who knew she used to be a Professional Closet Organizer, say what?! Clever gal converted her guest room into this amazing master closet. Plus, she highly recommends using Real Simple Solutions Slimline flocked hangers, something we don't have over here in the UK/Greece, but i'll take her word for it, her closet looks like a chic boutique!

Kim's closet: Loving a drawer with separated spaces for jewellery, take a look at these beauties!

Khloe Kardashian's wardrobe

Khloe's closet: You know you'd have fun dressing up in here... oooh scented candles, yum!

Khloe seems to have stolen my ideal shoe collection, isn't this just the most crazy-awesome shoe collection ever!

Guest Posting on The Phi Diaries

Happy Monday folks! I hope you've all had a well rested weekend! What did you all get up to?
I managed to escape to Lake Vouliagmeni for a few hours for a much needed cool off, as Greece continues to to be enveloped by the summer heat. This stunning lake, once an incredible cave in the middle ages and also health spa is famous for it's healing waters and unusually warm all year round temperature. I always feel refreshed and deeply relaxed after each visit.

As some of you know, I have a rather large appetite & love for just about everything in life, so it'll probably come as no surprise when I admit I have a thing for jewellery too. I've been invited to Guest Post over at The Phi Diaries, so if you do get a moment, stop by and say hi, maybe you'll learn some interesting facts about me there too! I'll be sharing the odd inspirational post that'll tickle your fashion tastebuds in the near future too!

Thank you so much for having me Clare!

Wishing you all a sensational week!
